Terms of Service
Last updated: 17 September 2026
These terms govern your use of the Signature Scouts website (the "Site") and our proxy autograph services (the "Services"). By placing a booking you agree to be bound by them. Please read them carefully — section 7 limits our liability, and section 10 sets out your statutory cancellation rights.
1. Who we are
Signature Scouts is operated by Signature Scouts Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company Number: 17286860). Registered office: 167-169 Great Portland Street, London, England, W1W 5PF. We provide physical proxy services at autograph events. We are independent of, and not affiliated with, any creator, publisher, studio or event organiser referenced on the Site. Optional grading and authentication is arranged through Fantasy Road. Contact: Signaturescoutshq@gmail.com.
2. The Services
We attend events on your behalf and queue to obtain a signature on an item you supply, optionally arranging grading and authentication and return shipping. We do not employ or represent any creator and we cannot bind any creator to attend or to sign.
3. Pricing & payment
All prices are shown in GBP and include any applicable VAT. A booking is taken when you complete checkout via Stripe. Your total comprises four elements, each of which is itemised at checkout:
- Creator signing fee — the amount the creator (or event organiser on their behalf) charges to sign.
- Service fee — our fee for queuing, handling and administering the booking.
- Return postage — the courier service you select.
- Add-ons — optional extras (grading, display cases, personalisations) you select.
We may decline or cancel a booking before service begins — for example, if the event is at capacity, if the item is outside what the creator will sign, or if we suspect fraud. In that case we refund in full.
4. Signatures are not guaranteed
We attend on your behalf in good faith, but a signature is never guaranteed. Creators may refuse to sign specific items, refuse personalisations, limit the number of items per person, or end a signing session early. Where a signature is not obtained for reasons outside our control, our service fee is retained; the creator signing fee is refunded. Where we fail to attempt the signing due to our own fault, the full amount (including service fee) is refunded.
5. Creators & events may cancel
Creators and event organisers may cancel, withdraw, reschedule or no-show at any time, sometimes without notice. If a creator pulls out entirely we refund the signing fee and our service fee. Outbound postage that you paid a courier to send your item to us is not within our control and is non-refundable.
6. Ink, finish and grading & authentication
Pen type, ink colour, line weight, placement and finish are determined on the day by the creator and event staff. We will follow your stated preferences where permitted, but we cannot guarantee a specific pen, colour, placement or personalisation. Variations in ink quality between events or items are not grounds for refund. Grading and authentication (CGC grading and JSA authentication, arranged via Fantasy Road) is offered subject to availability; if a booked grading add-on becomes unavailable, we refund that add-on and the booking otherwise proceeds.
7. Liability and compensation cap
You must declare the replacement value of your item at checkout. Our total liability to you for loss of or damage to any single item — whether in our possession or in transit — is capped at the lower of (a) your declared item value and (b) the courier insurance tier selected on your booking. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, sentimental value, or any decline in resale value caused by the signing itself (e.g. ink placement, smudging). Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Shipping risks
Items posted to us travel at your own risk. We strongly recommend a fully tracked and insured service. Return shipments are covered only by the courier insurance tier you select at checkout; claims for loss or damage in transit must be made through that courier, and we will supply the proof-of-postage and packaging records you need to support your claim.
9. Event cancellation by organisers
If an entire event is cancelled by the organisers, we refund the signing and service fees and arrange the return of your item. Return postage already incurred remains payable by you.
10. Your statutory cancellation rights
The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give consumers a 14-day right to cancel most online contracts for services. By completing a booking and ticking the "I agree" confirmation at checkout, you expressly request that we begin performing the service before the end of the 14-day cancellation period and acknowledge that you will lose the right to cancel once the service has been fully performed. In practice this means:
- You can cancel up until 72 hours before the event for a full refund.
- Between 72 hours and the event itself, you may cancel but we may retain an amount proportionate to the work already done (typically the service fee, plus any non-refundable outbound postage you incurred).
- After the signing has been attempted at the event, the service has been fully performed and the right to cancel falls away.
To cancel, email Signaturescoutshq@gmail.com with your order number.
11. Chargebacks & disputes
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first — we resolve almost all issues directly. Chargebacks filed without prior contact will be defended with our evidence (order record, Stripe payment ID, courier documentation, event records).
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. As a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live.
13. Acceptance
By completing a booking you confirm you have read, understood and accept these terms, including the limits on guarantees, compensation and shipping risk set out above.
14. Personal information
Our Privacy Policy explains how Signature Scouts Ltd uses booking, payment and correspondence information, our lawful bases, retention criteria, recipients and your rights. Our Cookie Policy explains browser storage. Acceptance of these terms is not consent to marketing or unrelated uses of personal information. Optional Fantasy Road data sharing is presented separately at checkout.
Nothing in these terms or our returns, refund or shipping policies limits your statutory data-protection rights, your right to complain to a regulator, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
